As many of us itch for the Deadhead celebration that is SKULL & ROSES to arrive in April, many fans can scratch said itch with an upcoming two-week West Coast string of dates from the festival’s headliner and highly touted Grateful Dead otherworldly tribute Dark Star Orchestra.

The group, which bring their own unique interpretations to the storied Dead catalog and setlists of past for over 25 years now, will pave the way to the Promised Land on their own “Road to Ventura” as the group begins their stretch of twelve shows on Thursday, Jan. 26th at Tempe, AZ’s Marquee Theatre.

Following the Arizona gig, the band will truck up the coast with seven California dates, including shows in Del Mar, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Napa, and more, eventually finishing up their run in the Pacific Northwest with two-nights in Washington (Bellingham and Seattle, respectively), and a tour-closer in Portland, OR at the Roseland Theater. Dark Star Orchestra will close things out at SKULL & ROSES on Sunday with a full two-set show! In addition to that, DSO’s Rob Eaton, Rob Barraco, and Skip Vangelas will be performing double-duty at this year’s festival as members of Sages And Spirits, playing alongside Melvin Seals, Jay Lane, and Jeff Chimenti. Sages is scheduled to perform a headlining set on Saturday night. Tier 2 tickets are currently available ^^^HERE^^^.

Check out interviews with DSO drummers and percussionists Dino English and Rob Koritz, both featured in this week’s Wall Of News Spotlight by Dennis McNally.
