Oteil’s main bass guitar is a Sandberg California 6 string. His bass amp head is an Epifani UL 501 which drives a pair of Epifani speaker cabinets, the T-4×10” and the UL 2×10”.  He said he’ll sometimes use a variety of effects pedals that change with his moods. What really sums up Oteil’s rig rundown and general non-obsessive gear mentality is his reference to Paul Riddle’s quote: “The tone is in the bone.” (the fingers).

Brad Sarno is a musician and inventor. With his wife Auset, he runs Sarno Music Solutions, which creates equipment that, among other things, allows guitarists to sound like a certain well known former Grateful Dead guitarist. He is the ideal guy to write the Tone Zone.
