I grew up in Bala Cynwyd, PA, just over the city line from West Philadelphia, about 2 miles from the Mann Music Center. I got to see countless really cool shows there including my first JGB show in 1984. My first musical memory is listening to AMFM radio in the car in the early 70s. Later, I adopted my parent’s albums that they’d bought years earlier when they came out. Classics like the first Crosby Stills & Nash record, Beggars Banquet & Flowers from the Stones, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce and more.

My Uncle Joe in New York was one of those Pigpen-oriented Deadheads coming of age in the 60’s and he was a big influence on my musical taste, as was my older brother Howie.
